Summer Workout Wear Favorites
If I had to pick one style of clothing to wear for the rest of my life, it’s athleisure. Especially since I started working from home, I spend a lot of my days in leggings, lululemon and am often guilty of never changing out of my workout clothes after a morning sweat. Don’t get me wrong, I love styling other outfits and dressing up from time to time but if I’m honest about what I wear most days, it’s activewear.
Before I share my favorites, let’s chat about investment pieces vs. budget-friendly finds. While my own personal collection does include a bit of both, this is an area I tend to be willing to invest in because of one reason: quality. Nothing irritates me more than leggings I’m constantly having to pull up during a workout, sports bras that aren’t actually supportive or sneakers that wear out way too quickly. If I choose budget-friendly options, it tends to be with tanks because quality matters a little less or sports bras if I can find a good deal on a quality option. (For the record, Zella is a great in between brand from Nordstrom. Not super cheap but also not as expensive as other brands, and the quality is still there.)
That being said, I realized in the last year or so that I almost always grab my lululemon pieces or other higher quality brands and wash them when I run out, leaving my budget-friendly finds sitting in my drawer week after week. To me, that says it all.
Since realizing this, I’ve started to take more of a capsule wardrobe approach to workout wear. Why spend money on multiple lower-priced leggings if all I ever wear are a couple pairs of align pants? 🤷🏼♀️
To each their own, but that’s where I stand. So now, on to my favorites…

I love the slightly cropped style of this tank paired with high-waisted leggings. Also love way the v-neck shows off a little of a cute sports bra!
My sister got this tank for me for my birthday and it immediately became my favorite workout top. Love the way the knot is oversized when you tie it back, but would also be great worn long & untied with leggings and a sweater later in the summer when we head into fall.
This crop style is so cute paired with high-waisted leggings. If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, I shared a great dupe of this in my April Amazon Finds post.
Similar to the Lululemon All Tied Up Tank above, but at a little lower price point. I own this one in multiple colors and it’s always one of my go-to’s.
This tank is in my Nordstrom cart. It comes in four colors and is just a great basic tank.
I have yet to pull the trigger on this crop but have always wanted one of these. The high neck style of this would be really cute paired with the VNeck Tank above.
This brand is new to me and I’m obsessed. I tried on a pair of their leggings while we were in Holland last weekend and LOVED them. Definitely grabbing a matching set from Girlfriend Collective soon!
I tried this on at Lulu recently and was a big fan. It’s the perfect combination of long sleeves without getting too hot. It’s also made with their Silverescent Technology that inhibits bacteria growth and bonus, wicks away sweat to keep you from smelling after a workout. Would be perfect for my early morning podcast walks when it’s still a little cool out!
This sports bra comes highly recommended by my sister. She says it’s hands down her favorite that she owns and I plan to grab it in multiple colors. Another high neck sports bra that would be cute with the VNeck Tank above.
Best leggings in the game. Literally, there is no competition. If you don’t have a pair, treat yourself. Just trust me.
The color block on this pair is so fun while still being neutral. Love that they’re different from a solid colored legging but can still be mixed and matched with so many different tops.
Like I said above, this brand is new to me and will definitely be my next legging purchase. Plus, I gotta have the matching sports bra.
My sister and I have both been eyeing this pair of sneakers for months. I’ve heard amazing reviews on how comfortable they are and if neutral sneakers aren’t your thing, they come in tons of fun, bright color options too.
I’m torn about which is my favorite between these and the Epic React. I’ve somehow never owned a pair of flyknit shoes from Nike (although I’ve worn my sister’s before and they live up to the hype!), so I’m pretty sure one of these two pairs is in my future.
