Spring Break Packing List: What to Pack for a Warm Weather Getaway

Spring Break Packing List: What to Pack for a Warm Weather Getaway

Every year for as long as I can remember, we’ve been heading down to Naples, Florida this time of year. It’s one of my favorite places in the world and after going for 25 years, it truly feels like home. Between it being our last trip (my grandparents are moving north next month!) and the brutal winter we’ve had, I’ve been counting down the days until we get to enjoy the warm weather in south Florida.

I know it’s a popular time of year for a warm weather getaway so today I’m sharing a few of my must-haves for a spring break trip.

The Packing List

Swimsuits + Coverups

Duh. Let’s start with the obvious items first. I don’t know about you but I’m definitely not one to drop a lot of money on a swimsuit so I’m all about the budget finds here. I’m loving the high waisted swimsuit trend this year, but also love a good one piece. Here are a couple I grabbed for this trip, plus a few others that have caught my eye:

p.s. Aerie / American Eagle is currently having a 25% off sale if you purchase a new arrival — which includes multiple pieces that I linked here in the swim section + clothing below!

Easy, Casual Basics

You all know I’m all about the basics, so naturally the same goes for vacation. I stick to a good pair of denim cutoffs, some basic tanks, a pair of shorts that can be dressed up or down, and an easy maxi/tshirt dress or two. I brought this Amazon dress on our last Florida trip and it is perfect to double as a cover-up or a t-shirt dress to wear out to lunch or dinner. It’s under $25, runs big and I just ordered a second color. A classic white linen button down is also on my list this year!

As for shoes, I stick to a couple pairs of sandals that can be dressed up or down. I’m obsessed with this nude lace-up pair that I pretty much wore every day last summer. This pair of slides is definitely coming with me — so comfy and less than $15! I’ve also been thinking about grabbing this rubber pair of birkenstock look-a-likes to slip on and wear to the pool.

If you caught my 30+ Favorite Finds on Amazon post last week, you know I love a good straw hat. I got one before our honeymoon and wasn’t sure if I could pull it off (I’m 6’ and I thought I looked like a tall cowboy 🤣). But, I decided I loved it and seriously wore it every single day of our trip. That one had a light blue band so I’ve been wanting a more classic one with a black band and this $15 Amazon find does the trick!

A straw beach bag is also a great staple for a spring break or beach trip. I usually use mine as my carryon while we travel and then switch it over for the trip. Sunglasses are another must and honestly ever since losing my Ray Ban Aviators (RIP 😭), I haven’t found a new pair that I love, but I’m linking a few I’m wanting to test out that are much more budget friendly than Ray Bans.

As for jewelry, vacations are one of the many reasons all of my PS46 pieces are simple, dainty and quality 14K Gold Fill (or 14K Rose Gold Fill & Sterling Silver). I like to keep the accessories minimal (always, but especially on vacation), plus while lots of other plated or brass jewelry can’t be worn in the water without tarnishing, I never have to worry about taking my favorite pieces off 🙌🏼

Skincare & Beauty

For me, vacation means minimal makeup. Most days I’ll simply wear a tinted moisturizer, waterproof mascara and some brow gel (because otherwise my blonde brows are practically invisible). This one is the best I’ve found if you’re looking for a good brow gel!

Sunscreen is another must. Obviously, any of us taking a trip to warm weather this time of year are mostly wanting to get away to get some sun — but we all know the importance of protecting our skin from sun damage. Sunscreen has also been in the news a lot lately due to most being filled with harmful chemicals and right now, only mineral sunscreens are deemed to be 100% safe for human and environmental use by the FDA. I’m usually one to forget to pack sunscreen for a trip and then just grab some when I get there, but with all this new information (read more here), I wanted to pack a safe sunscreen that doesn’t have questionable ingredients in it. I just grabbed this Countersun sunscreen from Beautycounter (also where my tinted moisturizer and brow gel are from!) so I know I’m good to go. I’ve also heard really great things about this matte mineral sunscreen from Supergoop for your face, especially if you have oily skin.

By the way, right now if you spend $125+ on Beautycounter.com, you’ll get a free Brightening Facial Oil! People rave about this product and I just got mine in the mail today so can’t wait to try it. ALSO, right now anyone who enrolls in Beautycounter’s Band of Beauty Membership (it’s their rewards program where you get free shipping and rewards points & costs only $30/yr) gets a free travel size Cleansing Balm, another of their products everyone is obsessed with.
