First Anniversary Staycation at Hotel Covington
Somehow it’s already been one year since our wedding day! The year flew by and we were so excited to do something fun to celebrate year one of marriage. For our first anniversary, we wanted to do something special but also decided to stay in town. Kurt and I had the opportunity to stay at Hotel Covington for an anniversary staycation — one of our favorite places in the area. The boutique hotel is absolutely gorgeous and such a welcoming, relaxing and inspiring space. We often drive across the river to Hotel Covington for a fun change of scenery on a work day or to grab drinks or dinner for a date night or with friends. After starting the celebration with a spa day at Woodhouse Day Spa, we checked in to Hotel Covington for our staycation.
We headed up to our Coppin King room on the seventh floor with a gorgeous view of downtown Cincinnati where a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries were waiting for us. Hotel Covington truly went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed, at home and celebrated during our entire stay.
After checking out our room, popping some champagne and getting ready for the night we headed back downstairs to Coppin’s Restaurant & Bar. Coppin’s is named after the building that houses the hotel and restaurant which used to be Coppin’s Department store. We took a seat at the gorgeous bar for some bourbon and some of the best cocktails we’ve ever had before dinner. The bartenders offered us champagne toasts along with incredible knowledge about their bourbons and cocktail list. The bourbon lover he is, Kurt was in seventh heaven.
We eventually made our way into the dining room for dinner and I promise you pictures just don’t do this place justice. From our waitress to the food to the ambiance, everything was perfect. Everything on their menu has their own unique touch. We settled on the Brown Butter Cornbread, Scallops & Ham, and Beer-Braised Short Ribs. Coppin’s is easily one of our favorite restaurants in the city and we already can’t wait to go back.
After a perfect anniversary celebration and amazing night’s rest, we made a stop down in the lobby to Hotel Covington’s Artisan Coffee Bar the next morning. They serve local Carabello coffee, one of our favorites and a perk that keeps us coming back often to use their lobby as our office space.
Kurt and I had the best staycation and couldn’t have asked for a more perfect, relaxing way to spend our first anniversary as husband and wife. I want to say a huge thank you to Hotel Covington for hosting us. Every person on your staff made our stay so incredible, wished us a happy anniversary and became like friends by the time we left. We can’t wait for our next staycation there and will certainly be back with our laptops and coffee for a fun work day soon.
